Clodagh

Clodagh is from a farmer who was done breeding her and was going to shoot her in the head or bring her to the butcher if we did not take her and 4 other girls in.

Her one ear is tattered and torn from tags that may have been ripped out. She is shy and very wary of being handled.

She is coming closer and closer as the days go on and we know she is trusting us more. She is a dominant girl who is in charge of the others but also has a sweet and gentle side.

Clayton

Clayton was rescued from the Clayton fires in lake county with his brother Eugene. They were raised in a house when they were young, then rehomed, then survived the fire and were found running in the streets. Clayton seems to be a sensitive guy and has some trust issues. He likes a little attention but then quickly tells us that is enough. He self-soothes himself on the gate with his snout. He loves eating pretty much anything. He is now safe and happy and we let him live on his own terms.

Eugene

Eugene was rescued from the Clayton fires in lake county with his brother Clayton. They were raised in a house when they were young, then rehomed, then survived the fire and were found running in the streets. Eugene has the best eyebrows and is the sweetest boy who loves attention and belly rubs. Every morning he hurries to finish his breakfast and races across the yard to catch the tail end of the chicken feeding and gets to have a little taste of the feed. He is an extremely smart boy!

Harriet

Harriet was rescued from an organic egg farm when her egg production decreased, was no longer profitable to the farmer and was going to be killed. She is a funny girl who loves to jump on the garbage cans whenever we are cleaning and likes to be involved. She loves grapes, dust baths, sunbathing and living!

Terence, Trent and Darby

These three boys were found tied in a feed bag in the back of a pick-up truck by the police, They were found covered in feces, barely breathing and near death. They were brought to the shelter where they stayed for over a month with no interest at all. They were shy but when they came to the sanctuary, there personalities came out. They live with Milton, the goat and follow him around. They stick together and although they do to like to be touched, they love to follow people around and be the center of attention. Thee three always bring a smile to all who meet them!

Homer

Homer was being raised for a 4H program along with her sister Penny to be sold at the fair. The girl who raised them, raised 3 pigs and sold one at the fair. She was devastated and decided she could not sell Penny and Homer because she loved them and wanted them to live. Homer is the sweetest and gentle boy who loves to give snout kisses and licks. He loves apples and mud baths are his favorite. He always seems to have a gleam in his eye and a smile on his face.

She is a lovely lady with a lot of spunk and is very independent. She talks a lot and seems to have very important things to say. Every morning she let us know she would like to be fed in her own area and every night she is the only one outside on a perch and has to be put in her coop.

Moby and Travis

Moby and Travis were abandoned on someone’s property. They could not keep them but did not want them to be killed which is such a big problem with roosters. These two handsome boys live together but Moby is definitely in charge, He will sometimes charge but will easily calm down and walk away. Travis is more interested in food than fighting. They can now live on their own terms and make a dynamic duo!

Penny

Penny was being raised for a 4H program along with her brother Homer to be sold at the fair. The girl who raised them, raised 3 pigs and sold one at the fair. She was devastated and decided she could not sell Penny and Homer because she loved them and wanted them to live. Penny is a bold but loving girl. She is quick to flop for a belly rub but then is on the go again. She screams when it is feeding time to make sure we don’t forget her and will always let us know when we are late. She truly is a character!

Armondo

Armondo was abandoned outside of an office building where he lived for about a month.

The office employees started caring for him and grew very fond of him and his charming personality. He was attacked by 2 dogs and was injured with a fractured leg and some bite wounds.

He is still healing but is so social and gentle.

He is living with the turkeys and enjoying every minute of it. He loves human company and likes to have a nice chat if you sit with him.

Dany

Dany is a nice girl who came from a farmer who was going to shoot her in the head or bring her to a butcher.

She has a skin condition and also has a few leg issues from very overgrown hooves. She is recovering and is starting to come around.

We can’t wait to see her personality come out more and more the better she feels. She is very gentle and lets her treat her skin condition daily as if she knows it is helping.

Lady Valentine

Lady Valentine is a recent rescue who was either going to be shot or taken to slaughter because the farmer was done breeding goats.

Gladys Pearl

Gladys Pearl was rescued from the dairy industry where she was used and abused. She had her babies taken from her every year for 5 years.

She developed a painful condition called mastitis, was no longer useful to the farmer and was going to be slaughtered. Luckily the Good Sam that rescued her daughter, Norma Jean, begged the farmer for Gladys and they have been together ever since.

She is still a bit shy and stays off at a close distance, unless you have treats. She loves treats and will take them from your hand while letting you get a few good face rubs in.

Norma Jean

Norma Jean was saved from the dairy industry at a few days old.

She was really sick and saved by a Good Samaritan who bottle raised her and was able to reunite her with her Mom.

She was lucky enough to have escaped the dairy industry and not have to go through all the pain and suffering her mother did.

She is a silly girl who is very curious and loves hugs, (and will hug you back with her neck) kisses, treats and her Mom.

Wednesday

With time this girl will learn to enjoy all the love and positive attention she deserves.

Milton

A good Samaritan found them but unfortunately it was too late for his sister. Milton was extremely sick and was loaded with parasites inside and out .Found just in time, he was able to be nursed back to health.

Today, Milton is a strapping goat. He is extremely sweet and full of personality. He loves to greet people by smelling their faces then repositioning for a butt rub.

She loves her sister and they do everything together. She is very picky when it comes to snacks but her favorite snack so far is an apple! Claudine is a very happy girl. She is an expert excavator and loves to blow bubbles in the water. She loves to run and jump and also loves a good belly rub. Claudine also loves bananas and has one every morning with breakfast.

Willy

Willy and Elliot were bought to be raised as food. They were called Rib-eye and T-bone.

They were treated like objects and if handled at all, it was not with kindness. They were housed close to us and we got to know the boys.

It took many long discussions but we were finally able to talk the owners into giving us the boys to live out there life. They are still very shy but come running over for treats, eat out of our hands and are slowing letting us touch them a little at a time. They romp and play and even if they never fully trust humans they are still enjoying life. We will never give up on these boys.

Betty

Betty was found wandering the streets with her sisters and brother, most likely abandoned or escaped from a backyard breeder. They were at shelter in a concrete pen for over a month with time running out and no hope in sight.

Betty is a little more reserved. She will follow Veronica and let her check things out first to make sure they are okay, but if there are snacks involved , Betty will be there in a flash,

Veronica

Archie

Archie was found wandering the streets with his sisters, most likely abandoned or escaped from a backyard breeder. They were at shelter in a concrete pen for over a month with time running out and no hope in sight.

Dora

Dora the explorer was rescued from a factory farm and has a lot of exploring to make up for.

She spent the first 2 years of her life in confinement. She loves her flock but will wander a little more than the rest to check things out. She is extremely energetic and is always the first one out in the morning and the last one in.

Sing Sing

Sing Sing is an old girl that was rescued from a prison farm. Her egg production dropped so she was useless to them. She is still wearing her stripes but she is free as a bird! She loves mixed greens, warm sun and a nice dust bath..

Jerry and Lewis

Jerry and Lewis were strays at a no kill shelter. They were most likely abandoned from an accidental hatch from a backyard chicken flock.

Unfortunately, roosters are extremely hard to place and many rescues will not take them in. The boys were going to be brought to a feed store with an unknown fate and most likely not a good one.

These boys work together as a team to protect their flock and are the funniest little boys. They both have very distinct crows which are very comical and are very entertaining.

Calypso

Calypso was rescued along with Sing Sing. They have been good friends for years and enjoy long walks together, dining on fresh grass and just relaxing in the sun.

James

James literally came to us. He was abandoned outside by someone local and came right on our property along with his brother Remington. We were able to find the people that let them go and they said they did not want them anymore.

Luckily, they did not want to kill them either and now they get to enjoy their days in the sun, grass, dirt and sunshine and enjoy their nights safe, happy and secure.

Lily

Now, Lily enjoys the great outdoors and loves to frolic in the grass and enjoy a nibble or two along the way.

Pretzel

Pretzel was at the shelter where Cindy worked. He was extremely ill. He could barely lift his head and couldn’t stand. He would just cry out in pain. Cindy took him home for the weekend so he wouldn’t be alone.

With medication he started to improve and was diagnosed with an auto immune disease. He was started on a vegan diet and was able to be taken off his meds and has been symptom free for years.

Pretzel loves to do zoomies around the house, play with his family and snuggle on the couch with no preference for people, dog, or cat.

Olive

Olive was abandoned in Mexico along with 13 other puppies at a spay/neuter clinic where Cindy and Gregg were volunteering. The puppies were on their way to being euthanized at animal control.

They drove them over the border to safety but many were in poor condition, including Olive. Cindy and Gregg nursed them all back to health but Olive, who was critically ill with parvo, stole a piece of their hearts.

She almost died but still looked up to them with hope as if saying “I’ll live” and that’s how she got her name and her permanent home. Olive loves to lounge on the couch, sunbathe and loves to fetch. Her favorite food in the world is Peanut butter.

Lincoln

Lincoln was at the shelter and had such severe anxiety he needed a foster ASAP, so Cindy took him home. Trying to keep him separated the first night was extremely traumatizing for everyone. As soon as he met everyone, he immediately bonded with everyone in the family.

We just couldn’t let him go through that again. He is always by Cindy’s side. He does love to run, play with his brother, Walter and go in the car, even if the car doesn’t go anywhere.

Walter

Walter was a foster parvo puppy who was critically ill. When he started to improve, he then injured his leg while playing. His foster time became a lot longer for recovery and he became extremely bonded to the family, especially to his little brother, Lincoln.

Walter’s favorite thing in the world is his Jolly ball and he spends most of his outdoor time with it, running or just drooling and licking it..

Drake

Drake was at the shelter and was going to be euthanized due to a heart condition. Cindy took him home to give him a chance and he took it. Being quite the charmer, he quickly befriended everyone. Drake loves to rub his face on everyone and they all seem to enjoy it.
